Hour One: Medical Supply Chain 

Moderator: Jennifer Nugent-Hill

Jennifer Nugent-Hill is the Director of Governmental and Community Affairs for Tropical Shipping where she oversees Tropical Shipping’s community relations and corporate giving portfolio. She is the coordinator of the company’s Business Continuity Planning program and represents her company as liaison to Florida’s Palm Beach County’s Division of Emergency Management ESF-18, Business and Industry partnership and is the company’s liaison to the Caribbean Disaster Management Agency.  Jennifer executes one of Tropical Shipping’s flagship community  initiative known as the TS “Annual Disaster Management Workshop (DMW) Partnership Series” which seeks to foster best practices in community disaster management thru coordination and cooperation with the public and private sectors in Florida, Puerto Rico The Bahamas and the Caribbean.

Jennifer has had a distinguished public service career , having served in various senior policy positions with the Government of the United States Virgin Islands, including that of leading the rebuilding initiatives of the Territory’s  affordable housing and home ownership  programs and the restoration of public recreational facilities from the aftermath of the devastating category 5 Hurricane Hugo in 1989.

 She also served as the Assistant Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) and Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority responsible for managing the economic development commission strategic plan for the rebirth of the USVI’ economy.  Jennifer holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) and is a certified Associated Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) and is Trustee Emeritus of the University of the Virgin Islands.

Eddie Coker

Eddie Coker CPP, CFI is the Global Security Director for the McKesson Corporation and is responsible for security operations for US Oncology, Med-Surgical (East and Central Divisions,) and McKesson’s corporate campuses.  Eddie is also a member of McKesson’s Business Continuity Team and works closely with multiple state Emergency Management Agencies to continue to provide service to customers during natural and man-made disasters.

Matthew Redding 

Matt Redding is currently detailed as the Acting Deputy Director, Office of External Affairs.  Previously, he served as the Director of the National Integration Center within the National Preparedness Directorate at Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Headquarters where he deployed to the National Response Coordination Center (NRCC) in support of the national COVID 19 response as the Resource Support Section (RSS) Deputy for operations.  In this capacity he assisted in national level logistics analysis, allocation, and interagency efforts to meet the nations unique requirements under the national COVID-19 response plan. 

A career Army officer, Matt’s last military assignment was performing duties as an Assistant Professor of National Security and Resource Strategy at the National Defense University (NDU), Fort McNair Washington DC.  Here, Matt developed groundbreaking curriculum that linked future military concepts with current and future national level technology, labor, and industrial capacity to support large scale conflicts. Prior to his assignment to NDU, Matt served as the Army Chief of Current Operations for Logistics in the Pentagon.  Here his team developed strategy and policy supporting global Army logistics readiness response posture for the 2016-2017 hurricane seasons.  His operational experiences span the globe, where his command and staff assignments placed him at the forefront of international, interagency, and national level responses to major disasters and security threats.

Kathy Fulton

Kathy Fulton is Executive Director for American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN). She leads the organization in delivering logistics information, services, and equipment to ensure communities have continuity of nourishment, hydration, and medical care during crisis.

Ms. Fulton’s passion is the intersection of supply chain and emergency management, focusing on the critical role logistics and supply chain professionals play in disaster relief. She serves on national workgroups focused on efficient coordination of logistics activities during disaster and was a member of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine consensus committee on “Strengthening Post-Hurricane Supply Chain Resilience.”

Kathy is a proud resident of the state of Florida and appreciates the cross-sector camaraderie, support, and friendship that is unique to the emergency management community in the Southeastern United States.

Alix Miller

Alix Miller is Vice President of Florida Trucking Association (FTA), where she directs communications efforts, manages government relations and works directly with state regulatory agencies to promote and protect the interests of the trucking industry. She serves on several statewide transportation committees, including Florida Department of Transportation’s Florida Transportation Plan; FDOT Innovative Technology Deployment Team; and the Florida Freight Advisory Committee. She holds a BA from Tulane University, and an MFA and PhD from Florida State University.

Paul Kalinowski

Paul is a long-time Publix associate, having begun his career with the company 41 years ago.  Paul worked in various positions in Publix stores for 13 years before moving to a divisional staff position as a purchasing analyst.  From there, Paul joined the newly formed corporate purchasing department and helped establish the first corporate supply chain replenishment team.  After several years, Paul moved into various category management positions before returning to work in supply chain demand planning/procurement seven years ago as a Senior Business Development Director.

Michael Formica

A Washington, D.C. based lawyer with significant experience before all three branches of the federal government, Mr. Formica represents the nation’s pork industry on a range of issues including environmental occupational safety and health, transportation, and production issues impacting the pork industry. Prior to joining NPPC, Mr. Formica was previously with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and also served as an attorney in private practice representing a diverse array of clients on federal matters.
